The Workers series examines everyday labor through an immediate yet attentive photographic approach. Each work isolates a fleeting moment, at times understated, at times quietly expressive, firmly anchored in lived reality.
The images focus on encounters that often remain unseen, situating workers within their environments and bringing forward gestures, postures, and situations shaped by routine.
Through this sustained attention, the series foregrounds the inherent dignity of work and those who perform it.
Rooted in a humanistic perspective, Hei’s practice advocates for human connection, tolerance, and diversity, while pushing back against the rise of autocracy, racism, and the growing indifference shaping our society.
