Across the Color series, Hei develops a sustained reflection on human presence, vulnerability, and perception within both social and natural environments.
Works such as Humans and No Kidding focus on interpersonal relationships and formative states of being, drawing attention to gestures, expressions, and moments that reveal shared conditions of coexistence.
The landscape becomes a space of contemplation, approached through attentive observation and an emphasis on light, place, and temporal specificity while the series Carbon Land(es) and Carbonaude confront landscapes altered by catastrophe, combining aesthetic rigor with a restrained sense of loss while acknowledging the resilience of natural systems.
Most of the series use irony as a means to question habitual behaviors and unconscious attitudes.
Together, these bodies of work articulate a humanistic inquiry into fragility, responsibility, and the complex relationships between individuals, societies, and their environments.
